Josephine knot is an ornamental knot. It can be done with one cord at a time or multiple ones. Besides macramé, the same knot is used in Chinese knotting where it’s called the double coin knot and sailors know it as Carrick Bend, Sailor’s Knot or Anchor Bend.

5. Observations

We looked for French and English abbreviations for macramé knots, but we didn’t find any. Perhaps there is no custom of using abbreviations for macramé on these languages. Our research led us to no conclusion on this matter. So, if you happen to know something about this issue, please share it with us.
