Team and Project

Hi

Welcome to Atelier Lady Julia – craft projects for people with restless hands

Our team and project Authors

My name is Fátima and this weblog is a family project I’m publishing with Nuno, my husband.

This is a monetized weblog where I’m sharing free content with our community about one of the things I love the most to do and learn, namely: handcrafting. I’ve named it Lady Julia in my mom’s honour because she is the one who introduced me to Arts and Crafts in the first place.

Handcrafting is a wonderful activity

Making things with our own hands has a lot of advantages. It is a very nice leisure activity that helps coping with stress, stimulates creativity and can be undertaken individually or in group. It’s good to keep kids, teens and the elderly busy, to find alternative solutions to manage tight budgets, to create special gifts for friends and loved ones, to give one’s own identity and touch to personal objects, to promote social interaction, etc., etc.

This site was first intended to be an online boutique to sell my handcrafted jewellery, but we find handcrafting so entertaining and fulfilling that we decided to change our business strategy. So now, instead of buying jewellery at http://blog.ladyjulia.com/en/, you will be able to learn how to make it yourself. Here you will find ideas to make not only jewellery but also other fashion accessories, dolls and toys for children, masks and puppets and many other handcrafted projects I love to embark on and will be thrilled to share with you.

Don’t worry if you are an absolute beginner or if you are unfamiliar with some of the techniques presented. We make a serious effort to provide all the basic information for anyone to try our projects. And besides that, we’ve chosen to make Atelier Lady Julia a weblog in order to make it easier for our community to exchange ideas and discuss any doubts. So, please feel the most welcome and don’t be afraid of participating.
